APPLIED KINESIOLOGY

Balance Your Body

Applied Kinesiology (AK) is a non-invasive assessment technique that evaluates structural, chemical and mental aspects of health using manual muscle testing combined with other standard methods of diagnosis. Muscle testing allows Dr. Kelsey to prioritize what your body needs in any given moment, whether it be a chiropractic adjustment, supplementation, emotional clearing, muscle work, or balancing your meridians.

Applied Kinesiology focuses on differentiating between a functional muscle and a non-functional muscle. Feeling like a muscle is "too tight" or needs to be stretched is an indication of a non-functional muscle. Non-functional muscles can cause pain in joints, restricted movement, postural abnormalities, and trigger points which are tender nodules in the muscle. Turning a non-functional muscle back "on" or, making it functional again, may completely resolve complex symptoms.

AK has become popular among athletes because they are acutely aware of how properly functioning muscles can dramatically improve their game. Isolated muscle testing can help expedite healing from sporting injuries, especially in troublesome joints like the shoulder and knee.

Treatments may include the following:

Specific joint manipulation or mobilization

Various myofascial therapies

Pelvic blocking

Cranial techniques

Meridian and acupuncture stimulation

Clinical nutrition

Dietary management

Emotional clearing

Evaluating environmental irritants

AK provides for a truly individualized and specific treatment that will be included in every chiropractic appointment.
